Application Procedures


Teachers/Specialists - Application Procedure

Thank you for your interest in teaching for the Norfolk Public Schools. NPS continuously accepts new applications. Please read the following information carefully so that we can give you full consideration for any position(s) you apply for.

Candidates will be considered only when their application file is complete. A complete file includes:

√ Current résumé (can be up-loaded or mailed)

√ Completed Norfolk Public Schools' on-line application form

√ Completed on-line interview (Information will be emailed to you upon receipt of your completed application. Please check your Junk mail box if you do not receive the message.)

√ Credentials and/or a minimum of three letters of reference

√ Transcript(s)–copies are accepted for the interview process (Note: Not all credential files contain transcripts)

All of this information is necessary to assess each candidate's strengths against our district needs. Applications are kept on file for three years, and can be reactivated at your request with a updated résumé and new letter of interest.

You can check to see if your application file is complete by logging on to "My Account".

In addition, if you need to update your résumé, current address, or any other pertinent information, you may do so at any time in your Account area.

Norfolk administrators will:

√ Screen complete applicant files for interview selection

√ Contact selected candidates to schedule final building interviews (The district reserves the right to tape any and all interviews)

√ Principals may ask candidates to teach a lesson or may visit your classroom if you are currently teaching

√ Following interviews, offer a contract

√ Contact each candidate interviewed with the outcome of the selection process

√ Remove filled positions from the website.

NOTE:

√ The individual selected assumes responsibility for proper Nebraska certification (Nebraska Department of Education - Office of Certification)

√ Individual selected must submit official transcripts for their personnel file

√ Please be advised candidates who are offered and accept a teaching position will undergo a criminal history check
