1) How can I find out about Norfolk Public Schools’ certified openings?
Norfolk Public Schools posts vacancies on the district website at http://www2.norfolkpublicschools.org/
- click on “Job Opportunities.” We also advertise on the “Teach
in Nebraska” website, in the Sunday Omaha World Herald, locally in the
Norfolk Daily News, and several college placement bureaus.
2a) How do I apply for an administrative position?
3) What if I cannot send a credential file because I am not registered with
my college Placement Bureau or Career Services Office?
In lieu of credentials, you can submit three letters of reference from those
who can attest to your character and/or ability to perform the position applied
for. Reminder: You will also need to submit your college transcripts, and copies
are accepted for the application process.
4) What is the online survey?
A series of questions that will provide our district with preliminary information
on your preparation and compatibility with our district needs. We will send
you the information necessary to access this website when we receive your completed
application. Please allow approximately 45 minutes to respond to this survey.
5) What do I do if I have a problem accessing the online interview website?
During periods of heavy use it may be difficult to access the website. Please
wait and try again later.
6) Can I find out my score on the online survey?
No. This information is kept confidential.
7) How can I be sure my file is complete?
Approximately one week after submitting all materials you can log on to your account and check the status of your file.
8) When will I know if I get a final interview?
We usually contact applicants within one month of the application deadline. If
no deadline is specified you will be notified when the position(s) are filled.
Exception: If more than one opening is available (i.e., elementary positions)
you will be notified when all positions are filled.
9) If I cannot come in person for a final interview, will I still be considered
for a position?
Yes. If necessary we can conduct a phone interview. However, preference will
be given to personal interviews.
10) How can I get information on your districts’ salary schedule and benefits?
This information is available on the district website under “Administration
- Finance and Operation - Teachers’ Negotiated Agreement” and more
details will be provided at the final (personal) interview.
11) If I have applied for a position, and your district advertises another position
in the same subject area a few months later, do I need to reapply?
No. All applicants with appropriate endorsement(s) and complete files will be
considered for each opening within a hiring period (usually January to July).
12) What if I applied a year ago and you advertise another opening in my area?
Complete application files are kept three years and can be activated with a
written letter of interest and updated résumé. Applicants will
be contacted if additional information is necessary.
13) If I have a K-8 elementary endorsement can I be considered for a Middle
School or Junior High position?
Either an Elementary or Middle-School endorsement is valid for grade 6. However, Norfolk Public Schools requires a Middle School or secondary endorsement for teaching positions advertised for grades 7-9.
14) If I have a teaching application on file can I substitute for the Norfolk
Public Schools?
Our district has a separate application, payroll forms, and a workshop required
for substitute teaching.
Please review the “Substitute Teacher” information on this website
and contact the Personnel Office if interested. All substitute teachers are
required to have a current Nebraska Teaching Certificate.
